THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS
STOPPED ELECTIVE SURGERY
OTHER THAN CATEGORY 1 OR 2 - URGENT

This means that even with private insurance I cannot
book your operation unless it fits into these categories.

Category 1: You have weakness in your legs
You have alteration of bowel control
You have alteration of bladder control
You have weakness in your arms
Your spinal cord is being injured by a disc
You have a tumour
You have an infection
You have a fracture

Category 2 Urgent:

You have a condition that is progressing.
Your condition is likely to deteriorate in the next
90 days and you will suffer because of this.

IS IT SAFE TO HAVE SURGERY
At the moment there is no COVID -19 in either Linacre or
Peninsula Private Hospitals. Therefore you are not at
Increased risk by coming into either hospital.

IF YOU NEED SURGERY AND YOU DON'T
MAKE THE CRITERIA
I will place you on a list of patients waiting to have surgery,
and as soon as the crisis is over I will work overtime to
get everyone's surgery done as soon as possible.

WHY WOULD YOU COME TO SEE A SURGEON
IF YOU CANNOT HAVE SURGERY?
Many problems don't need surgery. I spend a lot of my
consultations reassuring people or organising treatment
that does not involve an operation.
